Password Tips
- Longer is stronger. Every extra character exponentially increases the combinations an attacker must try. Aim for at least 12 characters.
- Mix it up. Combining uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols makes passwords far harder to crack than using only letters.
- Never reuse passwords. If one site is breached, reused passwords let attackers access your other accounts instantly.
- Use a password manager. Tools like Bitwarden or 1Password store and autofill strong unique passwords so you only need to remember one master password.
- Word-based passwords are memorable. A phrase like BlueFoxJumps42! is both strong and easier to recall than a random string like X7#kQz2!.
- Avoid personal info. Names, birthdays, and dictionary words are the first things attackers try. Use randomly generated passwords instead.
